I'm so grateful that we clicked right away. You get to experience things but I feel like a sibling relationship has to be so innate, especially when you're twinning.
We didn't have to work hard, which I'm so lucky that I didn't because I feel like a sibling relationship is so tough to form. And I feel like that really translates on screen. But then Praneet and I, very instantaneously, became very codependent. In the show, we explore codependency a lot between Gil and Amanda. We're two little South Asian kids from the same town, and so we had so many things that we related on in that aspect, and we had quite a few mutual friends. Isn't that wild? So It was kind of really awesome, because I feel like that's what innately bonded us. We're both from the same hometown - Calgary, Alberta.
You know what's funny is you get asked that question a lot, but Praneet and I - so we kind of knew each other before we became the Bobbseys, which was really cool. What's it like to play a twin and how did you develop that connection with Praneet Akilla, who plays Amanda's twin brother Gil? And they do, very much so, serve that purpose, I've got to say. And I think they're there to really test already formed relationships within the Drew Crew. They stir up a lot of jazz, let's just say, in the Drew Crew. I'm so excited for that storyline to come out because it totally shapes why these Bobbseys are the way they are and their interpersonal relationships.īut yeah, they kind of pop up this season to stir things up. And we'll get to see as to why, which is really, really cool. You know, they grew up, as we'll kind of see like, they grew up with their grandmother because of the absence of their parents. But yes, they've kind of been around this scene, not with the Drew Crew but around that area. Do you have anything you can share with us about how they ended up in Horseshoe Bay? So we don't know much about Amanda and Gil's backstory.

She's at a place where she can be an adult and make her own choices and live for herself. I know that's kind of where Amanda's at too. I love reading and literature and that, but I need to do something and experience it. I learn and I grow most through experience, you know, like tactile experience. And that's exactly, I think, what Amanda wants and craves and needs, as well - to kind of figure out who she is. I just love knowledge, I just want to learn about things and experience things. I think her curiosity - I think that's what I resonate with most, totally. She has hope that there's always something better and there is something better and she wants to experience the world. I think Amanda's got such a zest for life. I love that rendition and that take on it because I feel like it just brings so much to the relationship with her and Gil, but also what she wants. so the Bobbseys kind of grew up on the wrong side of the tracks.
